GIDB: Apex Authority for SIRs

Background

GIDB is declared and designated as Apex Authority for the purpose of SIRs under section 5 of The Gujarat Special Investment Region Act-2009 and Section 6 of the Act provides for powers and functions of the Apex Authority (GIDB).

Apex Authority (GIDB) is empowered to sanction the ‘Development Plans’ & ‘Town Planning Schemes’ including ‘Development Control Regulations’ made by Regional Development Authorities and is a single point of contact for any economic activities proposed under the SIRs. Apex Authority (GIDB) is primarily entrusted to monitor the developments of SIRs within the State of Gujarat.

Apex Authority (GIDB) consists of tree wings.

• TPO Unit (office of the Town Planning Officer)

Organization structure:

CTP Unit

CTP Unit of Apex Authority (GIDB) is chaired by ‘Chief Town Planner’ of GIDB and is responsible for scrutinizing Development Plan & Town Planning Schemes prepared by the Regional Development Authorities and recommend the same to the Board for its sanction with or without modifications. CTP Unit would formulate the regulations for development, operation and management of the Special Investment Regions within the State.

It would also scrutinize and recommend the proposal of any economic activities submitted to Apex Authority (GIDB) with respect to Land Use, Zoning & applicable regulations.

TPO Unit

TPO unit is responsible to prepare ‘Preliminary & Final’ Town Planning Schemes and submit it to Apex Authority (GIDB) for its final sanction. TPO will finalize the Town Planning Schemes under the provisions of The Gujarat Town Planning & Urban Development Act-1976. Preliminary Schemes & Final Schemes sanctioned by Apex Authority (GIDB) can be downloaded from ‘Downloads’ section.

Development Plans & Town Planning Schemes:

Sanctioned Development Plan (including report & GDCR) & Town Planning Schemes (DRAFT, PRELIMINARY & FINAL) can be downloaded from websites of respective Regional Development Authorities.
