Preparation of Railway Master Plan for the State of Gujarat

All State Governments were asked by Railway Board to prepare its own Railway Development Scheme to assess the demand/requirement of Railway Infrastructure (both passenger and freight) in State to close the gap and develop the required level of infrastructure, an effective rail network & services needed to facilitate and catalyze economic development in the State. Accordingly, GIDB has already commenced the study for Preparation of Railway Master Plan for the State of Gujarat with following objectives:

  • Review the current railway capacity, and establish the gap between this capacity and the requisite railway infrastructure;
  • Assess the demand/requirement of Railway Infrastructure (both passenger and freight) in State in totality for next 30 years;
  • Propose a railway development strategy and comprehensive integrated Master Plan;
  • Prepare a suitable organizational, regulatory, legal and financial structure to implement the Master Plan;
  • Assist State Government in implementation of the Master Plan.

Consultants M/s Ernst & Young LLP has been engaged for the Preparation of Railway Master Plan for the State of Gujarat for duration of 32 weeks.

GIDB has commissioned following Feasibility studies.

  • Pre-Feasibility Study of Vayor to Koteshwar New Line Connectivity Project (43 Km)
  • Feasibility Study of Ankleshwar-Jhagadia Gauge conversion. Sanctioned in Railway Budget with extension upto Rajpipla.
  • Feasibility Study of Mehsana-Patan Gauge conversion & new link between Patan & Bhildi. Mahesana Bhildi commissioned.

1. Pre-Feasibility Study of Vayor to Koteshwar New Line Connectivity Project (43 Km) A Joint Venture (JV) process is already initiated for 101 km of Bhuj-Naliya Broad Gauge Conversion and 25 kms of new line (Naliya-Vayor). Now Industry Association and others have requested to extend this bhuj- Naliya Broad Gauge (BG) Line up to Koteshwar.Extension of bhuj- Naliya- Vayor Broad Gauge (BG) Line up to Koteshwar will benefit local communities, industries, Tourist as well as BSF. 430 Cr. August,2018 M/s. Aarvee Associates is the Consultants.Draft Pre-feasibility Report is submitted. The finalization is in progress.
2. Prefeasibility study for developing a Borad Gauge rail link between Ankaleshwar and Jhagadia Gauge conversion of the existing narrow gauge rail link connecting Ankaleshwar with Jhagadia. In that regard the consultants are required to prepare a prefeasibility report for the gauge conversion project on a commercial form at including operation and maintenance of the same. The study shall assess existing NG rail link and work out traffic demand, appropriate technical details and designs of the facility, revenue modelling, financial feasibility, economic feasibility, socio-economic and environmental assessment for the project.   Completed (As on June,2006) M/s. Feedback Ventures Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi was the consultant. Indian railway had sanctioned Ankaleshwar - Jhagadia- Rajpipla (63 km) conversion of the estimated cost of Rs.99.7 crores. The Gauge Conversion work on Ankleshawr-Rajpipla rail route has been completed as on January,2013.
3. Prefeasibility study for developing a Broad Gauge link between Mahesana - Patan-Bhildi Govt. of Gujarat is keen to explore possibilities of developing a broad gauge rail link connecting Mahesana with Bhildi through Patan. In that regard the consultants are required to prepare a pre-feasibility report for developing a BG rail link on commercial form at including operation and maintenance of the same. The study shall assess alternative alignments and suggests options for appropriate alignment between Patan & Bhildi and work out traffic demand, appropriate technical details and designs of the facility, revenue modelling, financial feasibility, economic feasibility, socio-economic and environmental assessment of Mahesana - Patan – Bhildi rail link.   Completed (As on June,2006) M/s. Consulting Engineering Services (I) Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi was the consultants. Indian railway had sanctioned this work under their plan head and the gauge conversion work has duly been completed.
